South Portland City Hall Complex ARCADD, Inc. is currently developing a plan to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of public spaces and offices within the South Portland Municipal Center. ARCADD is also solving problems such as the lack of storage space, conference room space, public queuing areas and security at City Hall. ARCADD is evaluating the space needs for the Executive, Corporate Counsel, Finance, Information Technology, Clerk, General Assistance, Engineering and Code Enforcement, Planning, Human Resources and Community Television. The evaluation will also include space needs for activities traditionally related to the municipal center, such as Council Chambers, Board and Committees Meeting Rooms, public waiting areas, and bathrooms. The assessment will also include an evaluation of private spaces, including employee rooms, lockers, shower facilities, and the kitchen. ARCADD also conducted a property boundary survey and will develop a master plan for the municipal building complex to establish a preferred plan for office and public meeting room space design and location. The master plan will include an evaluation of parking needs and traffic movement in and out of the complex, as well as, space planning for City Hall officials. Upon completion of the evaluation and master plan, ARCADD developed schematic designs and cost estimates for both renovation and new construction. The final report includes detailed program information, a conceptual space plan, conceptual site design alternatives, and construction costs for the preferred options. The total cost of the new City Hall is estimated to be $10.6M. |
