Newton Cable Access Television Studios

ARCADD, Inc. converted the Newton Cable Access Television Studios from a space in the basement of the Hyde School in Newton, MA. The space was originally a 4,300 sf concrete floor with masonry walls and a heavy timber ceiling at a height less than 12 feet. The Channel 13 studios include a stage set, production room, dressing room, equipment and storage rooms, conference room, offices, and staff lounge.

The new design included a full HVAC, electrical ceiling grid for spotlights and filters for special lighting effects. This new HVAC system called Variable Air Volume system (VAV), allows for light, medium or heavy occupancies. ARCADD designed the conference room, office and reception area with clerestory windows that allow natural light into each room and create a pleasant and welcoming atmosphere. The design for the Newton Cable Access Television Studios meets all building and life safety codes, as well as all Americans with Disabilities Act requirements. This project was completed within the estimated time and budget.
