Outpatient Clinic Renovations

ARCADD was commissioned by the Department of Veterans Affairs to develop a new space program, schematic layouts, and furnishings for their major facility move from Court Street to North Washington Street in Boston . The space was developed in an 11-story building leased to the VA by Vazza Companies.

Nine of stories are structured around an open space atrium with indoor planting and decorative finishes. The space organizational structure is focused on proximity of main services to visiting patients, cost of medical and technical staff operations, grouping of related medical services, proximity to elevator service core, privacy, and overall security. The lower floors consist mostly of outpatient services including a screening clinic, drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers, ambulatory care, psychiatry and day treatment services. The middle levels include dental, eye, ear and nose treatment, surgery, prosthetics, pharmacy, radiology and laboratories. The upper core was used for offices, libraries and conferences.

Although this project had a very tight time schedule (three weeks for design, two months for working drawings), ARCADD was able to finish it within the estimated time and budget.
