Main Post Office
East Bridgewater, Massachusetts

The design for the East Bridgewater Main Post Office was based on a computerized software package that provides the building functions. ARCADD's effort was to assemble the building parts and develop the construction and engineering systems.

The building is divided into front lobby functions, administration, work room, loading dock, and support spaces. The lobby includes a retail area (Postal Store) with stamp displays and a retail counter, service counters, a quick-post area and a postal box lobby. The design includes natural two story lobby lighting while highlighting in the retail area with special illumination.

The work room is situated behind the lobby areas with access to the administrative offices, support offices, and loading dock. The loading dock is totally covered and protected against the outside elements. It is equipped with dock levelers and lifts to accommodate different vehicles sizes.

The building structure was simple metal post and beams with bar joists and metal decking for the roof. The exterior walls are built from designed heavy duty metal stud systems with concrete masonry veneer and batt insulation. The roof is made of an insulated single ply EPDM system.

The building has a total square footage of 22,500. It was the constructed between September 1994 and May 1995. With a total project cost of $2,394,000, this building
was completed within the estimated time
and budget.
