The Landing’s composition is inspired by the form of a suspension bridge. The suspension bridge is an excellent metaphor illustrating the evolution of transportation as natural boundaries are broken down. For centuries, the Mississippi River has facilitated trade, commerce and travel that shaped and formed not only the City’s present character but also history and heritage. The bridge acts as a link to the present, future and Memphis ’ rich past.
