Cashman Elementary School Renovation and Expansion
Amesbury, Massachusetts

The Cashman Elementary School is a 73,000 sf building. the renovations included the upgrade of the entire school to meet the latest Massachusetts Department of Education standards, building and life safety codes, and ADA compliance. The main concerns began from water penetration and air quality. ARCADD assisted the Town of Amesbury in obtaining 75% SBAB of a $6.5M budget.

Originally designed for open classrooms, the school is now required by state regulations to be transformed into closed classrooms. ARCADD's design team developed an economical feasible and functionally flexible solution endowing each classroom with its own space, utilities and systems but allowing adjacent classrooms to be used for team teaching if desired.

The building was in need of more space to comply with the Massachusetts Department of Education guidelines. ARCADD designed a 1,200 SF addition to bring the kindergarten to a 1,200 sf standard.
